Bee sting reactions
Berry Haven Veterinary Group Medical Case
Over 24 hours, we saw 3 pets with bee sting reactions.
Zack, a cat, was presented with a very swollen right forepaw following a meeting with a bee.
Both Jedda, a labrador puppy, and Max, a Boxer, had very swollen faces.
All were well in themselves, and showed no evidence the allergic reaction involving the lungs. We gave each pet an injection of short acting cortisone (dexamethasone) and an anti-histamine. Within 2 hours, the swellings had disappeared.
If your pet is allergic to insect bites, its a good idea to have some anti-histamine tablets on hand. As soon as swelling is noticed, give an anti-histamine tablet.
